Dr. Lori Carris is a native of Michigan and a mycologist at Washington State University, where she has 1989. In case you don’t know, a mycologist is someone who studies fungi. Dr. Carris has been the recipient of many awards and honors in her career, and she bears many responsibilities, including teaching at WSU and community forays and workshops, as the Associate Dean of the Graduate School at WSU, as a former vice president of the Mycological Society of America, and of course, as a researcher. Her research includes work with a veterinary toxicologist on fungal poisoning of pets, the systematics of a genus of pathogens that infect cultivated grain crops and wild grasses, as well as the diversity and systematics of morels.
